Hon. KAZEEM ADEDEJI


A BRIEF PROFILE OF HON KAZEEM ADESHILE ADEDEJI HON KAZEEM ADESHILE ADEDEJI was born on the 22nd of February, 1966 in the ancient city of Ibadan to the family of Adedeji of Isale Ijebu. His father Alhaji Tiamiyu Adisa Adedeji is a businessman while his late mother, Alhaja Adedeji was a renowned textile trader at the popular Gbagi market. Hon Adedeji had his elementary education at the Public Day School II, kobomoje, Ibadan, and his secondary education at Adekile Goodwill Grammar School between 1979- 1984. He thereafter proceeded to the Oyo State College of Arts and Science, Ile-Ife where he sat for his Advanced Level examination in 1987. In the same year, he was admitted to the University of Lagos, Akoka for a B.A degree programme in Philosophy. He graduated in 1990 with a second class upper division. In furtherance of his interest in education, he obtained a masters degree in Philosophy from the premier University, University of Ibadan in 1992, the same year he was admitted to the Ondo State University, Ado- Ekiti to join the pioneer law students of the institution. He graduated with an LLB degree (second class upper division) in 1997. He was later admitted to the Nigerian Law School as one of the pioneer set of the Abuja Campus in 1998, and was admitted to the bar in September, 1999. In 2001, he added another feather to his academic cap when he obtained a masters degree in Industrial and Labour Relations (M.I.L.R) which was followed by an LLM degree, both from the University of Ibadan. He is currently pursuing a PhD programme in Philosophy in the University of Ibadan. He is also an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria since 2006. At the political front, Hon Adedeji is not a neophyte as he has held several political offices at different times. Between 1992 and 1993, he was a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly where he distinguished himself as a legislator and was fondly called ‘the young shall grow’ being the youngest member of the historic Oyo State House of Assembly at the time. As a progression of his political career, Hon Adedeji was elected into the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Abuja where he served between 1999 and 2003. In the course of his public service he represented the state and Nigeria at different times both locally and internationally. At the expiration of his tenure, he retired into full legal practice where he has been till date. He cut his legal teeth in the law firm of Lateef O. Fagbemi SAN before he set up his private office, Kazeem Adedeji & Associates in January, 2007. In the course of his political career, he has been an active member of Afenifere (a pan- Yoruba socio-cultural organization) since 1992 and has worked closely with the late Chief Bola Ige and Alhaji Lamidi Onaolapo Adesina and other notable figures in the progressive fold. Hon Kazeem Adedeji is a visionary, silent achiever, an educationist, an Awoist ideologue and an unrepentant advocate of politics without bitterness founded on knowledge and highest standard of morality. His brand of politics has endeared him to many both within and outside the shores of Oyo State. He is widely travelled and happily married with children.
