Each and every time, a new generation has risen up and done what's
needed to be done. Today we are called once more - and it is time for
our generation to answer that call. The will to serve the community is
and has always been part and parcel of Omoba Hakeem Ariyo Awolesi’s
life Though based in the States where he is actively involved in
social work and community service; First as a medical officer in North
Shore Medical Center and as member of the Aiyepe Community Development
Association USA Branch, member Democratic Peoples’ Alliance (DPA).
“Ariyo” as he fondly called by his friends has never shirked his
social responsibilities to his native Aiyepe. He has been actively
involved in the Aiyepe community through various contributions to the
development of the people of the area especially in the area of
healthcare facilities to the Aiyepe/Odogbolu General Hospital. His
love for education has also seen him contributing immensely to the
development of his Alma Mata, the Aiyepe Community Grammar School
Through the provision of much needed laboratory equipment.
Ariyo is compassion and the love he has for his people and willingness
to help that has bagged him the nick name “The Honorable” amongst his
peers and supporters and indeed informed his decision to come back
home and run for office as member, Federal House Of Representatives
representing Ijebu Central Federal Constituency. A decision, he and a
lot of his supporters believe, whose time has come. Ariyo is not
running for office just for the sake so, in the face of impossible
odds, He is running because he believes he can affect the fortunes of
his constituency and indeed Nigeria positively forever. To achieve
this therefore, we all have to play a crucial role in bringing about
the changes we need for our country to succeed. Each of us, in our own
lives, will have to accept responsibility - for instilling an ethic of
achievement in our children, for adapting to a more competitive
economy, for strengthening our communities, and sharing some measure
of
sacrifice. So let us begin. Let us begin this hard work together. Let
us transform Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
Ariyo will lead the generation that reshapes our economy to compete in
the digital age. Ariyo will lead to set high standards for our schools
and give them the resources they need to succeed. Ariyo will lead to
recruit a new army of teachers, and give them better pay and more
support in exchange for more accountability.
ARIYO, having benefited from the best educational system in the world
today, is a strong advocate of a Federal/State/local Government
partnership towards up grading the standards of the nation’s schools.
His goals in this regard shall be working in junction with others
toward providing the legislative framework which shall help provide
safe, standard, crime and corruption free schools for his immediate
community and indeed in all the nation’s schools. He would seek to
introduce legislation to reduce class sizes at all levels of the
education and ensure well-trained and qualified teachers are in every
classroom. He will make college more affordable all across Nigeria.
Hakeem will lead our generation that ends poverty in Nigeria. Every
single person willing to work should be able to get job training that
leads to a job, and earn a living salary that can pay the bills. It
has been acknowledge that the most threatening and most widespread
social malaise plaguing the nation today is the unemployment. Even the
government at the center admits that much. The question then is: “What
should be done”? WHILE NOT CLAIMIMG TO HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS, Prince
Hakeem Ariyo Awolesi believes in the introduction of legislation to
re-focus and re modify the existing curricular in the nation’s
schools in the line with developments in other parts of the world
where education is geared towards self employment. He Intends also to
look towards pursing legislation which would address the issues of
illiteracy, job training and life-long learning which are factors that
can help eradicate unemployment in the nation.
Developmental projects, is clearly related to the issue of employment
generation. The issue of developmental projects or infrastructural
development, Hakeem believes the development of necessary
infrastructure particularly in the rural areas would greatly
contribute to the reduction of unemployment, rural-urban migration
with its attendant problems and other social ills. These projects
include the provision of much needed boreholes particularly in the
Ijebu Central Federal Constituency, provision of efficient, effective
and affordable healthcare facilities for the people of the area and
working in conjunction with others at local governments, state and
federal levels to draw up legislation that would make the provision of
the these developmental projects reality.
Ariyo intends to use his time in the Federal House of Representatives
to initiate and contribute to law making which will lead to the
provision of access to high quality health care for all Nigerians,
particularly the people of his constituency.
Social Development, Man it has been acknowledged by social scientist
as a social animal. The Ijebus are no less so and Prince Hakeem Ariyo
Awolesi being an IJEBU MAN through and through cannot but seek to
contribute his own quota to social development of his people through
appropriate legislation. In this wise there, Ariyo promises to
initial, and support for IJEBU STATE, SPORTS Development, all those
policies in the area of youth development and social development that
aim to develop the people of his constituency and indeed the nation at
large.
That is why this campaign can't only be about me. It must be about us
- it must be about what we can do together. This campaign must be the
occasion, the vehicle, of your hopes, and your dreams.
It will take your time, your energy, and your advice - to push us
forward when we're doing right, and to let us know when we're not.
I want to win that next battle - for better schools, and better jobs,
and health care for all.
I want us to take up the unfinished business of perfecting our union,
and building a better Nigeria.
And if you will join me in this improbable quest, if you feel destiny
calling, and see as I see, a future of endless possibility stretching
before us; if you sense, as I sense, that the time is now to shake off
our slumber, and slough off our fear, and make good on the debt we owe
past and future generations, then I'm ready to take up the cause, and
march with you, and work with you.
Together, starting today, let us finish the work that needs to be
done, and usher in a new birth of our Nation Nigeria.
